Learning Reflection

 

     1.What did you learn in this course ?


          I learned 10 units There are :


Unit 1  Recount


 
     


   I  got knowledge from recount unit such as discourse markers,find topic,and main idea etc. I could write my recount.



Unit 2 Narrative

         


Narrative is any report of connected events.The purpose of narrative is to entertain and have types.
They include fairy stories,horror stories,and moral tales.
I got knowledge about writing the narrative.
I acted a role play about kylie's story.
felt very enjoy with it.
   


     

 Unit 3 Description   




Description is explains the characteristics of the subject or topic and details The purpose is to describe person, place,and thing.I could write detail of each pictures.




Unit 4 Procedure






The procedure is to tell the reader  how to do or make something.In this unit, I made a bologna sandwich. It's was delicious.



Unit 5 Comparison and Contrast





Comparison and Contrast is describe things are alike or

different.I could to find discourse markers

of similarities and differences.





Unit 6 Cause and Effect




 Cause and Effect is used to show the facts or concepts result due to other facts,events.I could to find cause and effect markers. I felt very enjoy with it.





Unit 7 Definition



                                             
         

It is the answers of  question "What is this thing"
I could to find definition markers.





Unit 8 Classification






Classification refer to categorization.It will help your academic reading
 because many classification markers
in the passage.I understood classification more and more.





Unit 9 Exemplification





Purpose of exemplification is adding more information to explain,define
 or illustrate a general idea.
It made me understand about exemplification more and more
because I could to find exemplification markers in the text.




Unit 10 Problem and Solution





Problem and solution is a pattern of organization
 where information in a passage is expressed as dilemma.
I got knowledge about problem and solutionsuch as vocabulary and problem, solution markers.

       2.What did you easy?

After I studied this subject I thought to find exemplification markers of unit 9 so easy for me because I could to observe from abbreviations and transitions in exemplification text.

      3.What did you find difficult?

My difficult were I couldn't find the main idea of each passage and couldn't write diagrams.

      4.What did you solve the problem?


I will practice exercises about main idea.And I often practice about diagram.


       5.What are your attitudes towards the lesson?

My attitudes towards all the class I felt very positive with this subject. In the first time, I felt so worry ,but I would like to study with it.Next, I understood with this subject more and more until I enjoy with A Discourse Approach In Reading.

Significance, If I study about reading course,I will apply it for the other reading course for example, when I see a passage. I will observe it by discourse markers.

Problem and Solution (Week 13)

                                                                 


                                                                           

                 

              In last class of this semester, my teacher answered the question of exercise 1.It was write the main idea,title,and diagram in the text. Next,she answered the question of exercise 2 too.Then, we watched the video of my friends until the end of period.

 For this lesson, I thought to find the title was easy for me,but
I found that my problem was to find the main idea of each passage.I tried to do exercise about finding the main idea.
My attitudes towards this lesson is I feel very enjoy with find the title of each passage.

Exemplification (cont.) and Problem solution (week12)






           This class, my teacher  answered  exercises text3,4. It’ about read text and answered the question and text4, completed the sentences using: illustration,
for example, a case in point, an example, for instance and such as.



     
         
Next, my teacher started a new lesson.It’s problem and solution.
She explained problem and solution concluded language, problem markers and solution markers.
        Then, I did skill practice and exercise 1. 
After this, she answered both exercises. Lastly, She made me do homework and  watched video of my friends.

  
   I could find the problem markers in other text. It easy for me. I found my difficult was wrote the diagram. I will practice to write the diagram for solve this problem. My attitudes towards the lesson are I feel this lesson difficult more than other lessons,but I enjoy finding about problem  and solution markers. It make me feel positive with this lesson more and more.

Definition,Classification and Exemplification (Week 11)





        

           Morning
   
      
 This class, I studied lesson about definition and classification. My teacher explained definition  and classification. It about  language and strategies of it.Then, I did skill practice2.
It about classification markers, drew a diagram.After that, I did skill practice 3.
It about highlight the definition of terms.such as, acoustic
phonetics,perception,selective attention etc. These definition was skill practice2 item5.This activity,I could ask to work in group or work in pair.


                                     
     
           Afternoon

     In the afternoon, I studied text 2. It about species of whales: Toothed and Baleen.
Then, I did the diagram and highlighted discourse markers in the text.After this, my teacher started new lesson. It my exemplification.  Exemplification have variety topic.such as,f.e/ e.g, i.e., a case in point is, specifically etc.
After that,my teacher explained clearly this lesson .for example,
she explained unknow words and gave
  examples about transition words and phrases of exemplification.Next, I did text 1 and 2. They were College Students’Pressures and Fun things to Do in Great Falls. 
And I did text 3,but  I didn’t  finish. So,it was my homework.I could find exemplification markers. It easy for me.

                                 
                                


However, I had the problem about I couldn’t understand some text because I knew little vocabulary.
I will solve the problem is I memorize vocabulary in every morning at least 15 words and tried to remember category  words for I can remember it more and more. Significance, I can separate about part of speech. My attitudes with this lesson  I felt very enjoy.






Cause and Effect (Week10)



     Morning       
       I studied a Discourse Approach in Reading. First, my teacher answered the exercises.  It about men and woman do they speak the same language?.
      Next, my teacher read a passage. Then,
I checked the answers with my friends.After this,she answered the exercises untill it finish.
       Last, all students found the discourse marker of similarities and differences. Finally, she 
taught  lesson 7. It’s cause/effect markers.
In addition, I did the skill practice1 ,and my teacher answered the practice1.


                       


      I thought  I could find cause and effect markers. It easy for me because
I understood it ,and could do many exercises about cause and effect. 

       My problem was  I remember little vocabulary. I will solve the problem is  I remember vocabulary at least 20 words/day with my friends.  
       
My attitudes towards the lesson.I felt very enjoy with this lesson.


         
                            



    Differences men and women
 

1.Men see the world as a contest,but women view primarily in connection with other people.
2.Men use language to show independence, status, and power ,but women use language to establish and intimacy.

Comparison & Contrast (Week 9)

       
                                          

    At first, we started midterm examination. Next, she to repeated comparison and contrast.Then, she answered to  exercises of text 1. It’s about the differences and similarities between Subway of
New York and Paris. After this, she read text 2 and answered to  exercises. Finally, she ordered homework next week.

I thought I can understand about  comparison and contrast ,so it was easy for me. I found my problem 
is I’m not strong vocabulary, and I know a little vocabulary .

I will solve the problem with practice about vocabulary or might be play vocabulary games, so it can remember  vocabulary more than.

My attitudes towards the lesson , I understand comparison and contrast more and more and to know technique for reading text.

     First,we started the test 3 lessons include recount,narrative,and description.

Next,my teacher taught learning a second language, explained it. 
For example, several ways to made learning English a little easier and more interesting, main idea of the first,second and third step etc.

Then, she already answered  to exercise and started new lesson with asked question to differences between apple and orange.

After that,she taught comparison and contrast, discourse marker of similarities and discourse marker of differences. Finally,we watched video of my friends and my group.


    I thought, I can find discourse marker of similarities and differences. It rather easy for me.

    Problem for me is I can’t find main idea of each paragraph. I tried to do exercises.
I feel very positive with this lesson more than.

        

Procedure (week 7)



                                             Procedure

 Today I studied this class. First, my teacher answered to exercises text 2and 3.
It about Budapest and Prague tourist attraction. Next, my teacher taught lesson 5 Procedure. She started lesson 5 with watched how to make omelette by Jamie Oliver. Then, we wrote vocabulary from clip, matched each sentences with the pictures and watched how to make banana milkshake. After this, she explained purpose,types of procedural texts,language features etc. Lastly, she taught about how to make banana cake and chicken soup. Finally,we watched Kylie story video of my friends.




                                  

 
My point of views, text about tourist attraction of Budapest and Prague is easy for me because I can see the answer from text. Significantly, I very like how to make omelette.


My problem for this lesson was sometimes may be I couldn’t understand meaning of words because I wasn’t strong vocabulary.

I could solve this problem by myself.I will practice about vocabulary more and more.

My attitudes towards the lesson is I feel very enjoy with this lesson.

Descriptive (week 6)



    This class, My teacher gave students  to work in group. First, activity describe picture this picture is Komodo Dragon  topic have  type, appearance, diet/food,size and habitat/ where it lives.
Next, teacher  described body parts an ant in sheet. After that, everyone  read  each  descriptive text  and answer  the questions  first text, was Komodo Dragon and match each word with  the correct meaning . Last, my teacher ordered homework,  There are second and third texts.
Finally, Everyone  watched video about Kylie’s secrets.


  In this class, I thought  description Komodo Dragon Picture.It was easy  for me because I felt very enjoy with  this activity.

My problem is  know little vocabulary  about  descriptive  but  I will  develop  vocabulary  skill more and more.


 My attitude  toward the lesson is I feel 
happy when I watch friends video because I think my friends act role play very good.







Narrative (week 5)



   First, My teacher gave our work group. Everygroup  were summary second part and each group had present  about  opinion of group.

  Next, Everyone did exercised and discussed about the three people in these story.  After this, All student did  exercises here is a list some of the themes in this story wih my partner choosen the three sentences and Sirikorn ,one of my group friends she presented about this topic.Last, everybody discussed the story’s symbols such as the eggs , the well , the photo and Kylie’s cutting of the photo.  Finally , teacher summaried the second part and work in group to role play about the Kylie’s  secrets.I think everything difficult for me but I like to do exercise D because I will comment about character of this story. It is interesting !


  This class, I thought work in group to role play it difficult because I’m very shy when I act as a character  sometime I can’t remember my script but in freetime I will practice more and more.

       My attitude toward the lesson is I like this lesson        because I think it very enjoy for me.

Narrative (week4)

               Teacher started with sample text of narrative. Next, she explained            language features in sample text. Then, she taught Tom's secrets explain meaning of diagram, work in pair to compair myself and my friend with diagram. After this,my teacher gave everyone read passage in first part and discuss.  The end of class worked in group for complete summary of first part of the story by adding short sentences and present tense.

 



         
           

              This class in my opinion, I thought compair the diagram with me.
It's easy for me 
and I can understood  the diagram .

               Problem of me I thought it's about understand of Kylie's secrets.
I will read more and more about this story.


               It might be better if I can remember vocabulary more than right now.

Recount (week 2,week 3)

             
Morning

        Today we studied unit 2 recount. Teacher gave me some warm-up activities.next, my teacher ordered me to rearranged scrambled sentences and gave me identified genre of text and discoursed makers. Teacher trained me find topic of story by reading , found the main idea and detail too.last, my teacher summerised the story.
I thought reading story and find topic is easy for me but rearranged scrambled is hard for me. Don’t worry about that I will practiced more about rearrang scambles.





Afternoon

My teacher ordered me to searched for a recount story and reported to the class,and wrote  a recount. I thought searching for a recount story is easy but writng a recount story is hard for me. I will practice about writing. And I will develop my self

Course introduction (week 1)

    


                In this class, was the first time to meet  a Discourse Approach in Reading teacher. She introduced the course for example  course description , aim of subject , objective, content,  teaching and learning activities, evaluation and assessment, learning meterals as well as 5  domains of learning. Then, she discussed with us and she gave some exercise about discourse markers . Finally, she make me my do homework are reflect learning  experience on Weblogs.



                  The first time  I thought nothing easy for me because this was  first time  for this subject. I thought next period I will improve myself.

     Problem in week one. I found problem is vocabulary because some words are difficult for me. Some words were hard to pronunciation. Some words were hard of meaning  for instance  exercise of discourse markers have new conjunction for me.

     Next  time I will do more exercise, look up new conjunction and remember it  and look up some new vocabulary and remember it . and I will more & more practice about  pronunciation

    I expect for knowledge about discourse markers and how to write my weblogs  and finally I want to know new conjunction and new vocabulary
