Learning Reflection

 1. What did you learn in this class?
 From this course, I studied many lessons and topics  as followed:

    1. Global English
    2. Context of English (ENL,ESL,EFL)

    3.Factors Affecting  English language
    4. Problems of English Language Teaching
    5.ICT and Global Languaue Teaching and Learning
    6.Six Trends in ELT     Global English is choosen for  my seminar presentation. I think that topic is very interesting. It's about using English  widely and many people communicate to each other.
Around the world know that many countries use it as a tool for communication.
English is influential to many countries. When I learnt this topic made me realized
that how is English important?

 2. What did you find easy?

     In my opinion, ICT is easy for me because the topic is very famous and most of people know some information about ICT. And ICT has many advantages and disadvantages when I know disadvatages of ICT, I try to avoid it for my security. 


3. What did you find difficult?

    I think this course is very difficult because have to read many articles or research in each week so, I have to read more. And another reason,my problem is reading skill  isn't very strong.


4. What are your attitudes towards the lesson ?

 
    My 
attitudes towards  is I can adjust or apply the knowledge that I learnt with my teaching in the future and use ways to teach appropriately to students.
    Moreover, I appreciate my teacher so much and the teacher try to teaches us about the lesson, moral and methodology of teaching.The teacher focuses about collaboration such as share ideas with my friends or express opinions.I think that this ways to teach is support their learning of students. The last, I really relax and get knowledge about academic reading such as article,research and journal etc.

Course Introduction week 12 (Seminar in English Language ) Sociocultural and Final examination

     

      The  last day of this course,  The teacher summarized the topic Sociocultural theory and scaffolding again.Then,The teacher gave the test. ( two items)and students have two hours for  final exam.The examination had questions Sociocultural theory and scaffolding and 21 st century skill also.

    When I finished the test,I felt stress because I wrote the detail like a circle but, I'm not felt stress extremely, the test could write in Thai. I really thank you my teacher that she understood us.


Course Introduction week 12 (Seminar in English Language )

Today, I learnt about Sociocultural theory and scaffolding
.


         Sociocultural theory ia common method of explaining what makes and defines us as individuals is the application of sociocultural approach. This approach emphasizes the influence of the society that we living on our learning process.According to the sociocultural approach, cultural factors such as language, art, social norms and social structures can play a significant role in the development of our cognitive abilities.

The Zone of Proximal Development  

One key element of Vygotsky's sociocultural approach is his idea of a Zone of Proximal Development. Commonly abbreviated as ZPD, the Zone of Proximal Development.At the core of Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development, there is the area containing the cognitive abilities which we have acquired so far in life. At an earlier age, these are limited. As we travel further outwards from this core, we reach the outer reaches of the zone, which represents the potential of the human mind. This inner potential can be realized through social learning situations.

From I learnt about  sociocutural and scaffolding of Vygotsky.Both theories of Vygotsky  can help the teacher about teaching  so, they  can  choose and use both of theories appropriately  to students’ ability. If  I were a teacher, I have to concern  this reasons and I  will try to apply both theories for helping  the students .Moreover, I think that both of them are good theories.


Course Introduction week 11 (Seminar in English Language )



My Class started  late .Next,  the teacher assigned the students make group of six  and shared  ideas  or summarized the detail  that the people understood  in each topics. The article is The End of CLT: a context approach to language teaching by Stephen  Bax. In my group talked about the topics : what is CLT, advantages and disadvantages etc.
Then, each group sent representative to present their  ideas and  everybody
summarized the article together.

I really understand  the CLT more and  think that in Thailand , when the teacher will use CLT in classroom. The teacher have to adapt or adjust suitable to context of Thai students and concern other limitations  that effect to learning factors of student.

Course Introduction week 10 (Seminar in English Language )



         Today we started seminar class 8.30 a.m. Teacher assigned students to make a group of seven.Then,students discussed and shared ideas in your group.
       
      I learned about  "Trends in the global ELT" . 
There are nine trends tn the  global ELT as follows: . 

   1.Changes in perspective on ELT and learning
   2.Changes in goals of 
ELT and learning
   3.Changes in teaching approaches
   4.
Changes in teaching content, curricurum design, and assessment
   5.Expanding the dimension of communicative competence
   6.Change in views of an effective English educator 

   7. Early start in learning English 
   8.Rapid development and integration of IT in ELT
   9. Changing roles and increasing responsibilities of teachers i


  
   After that, each group presented information to the class. The  teacher  summarized  and taught  about 21 st  century skill. 
At the end of the class, teacher assigned students  to read the end of CLT next week.  For this lesson I felt very  difficult to read but, when the teacher concluded and explained the lesson. I understood about the detail of Trends in the Global ELT  more.    .

Course Introduction week 9 (Seminar in English Language)

 
       On morning Tuesday, the class started 8.30 a.m.,the teacher reviewed about  ICT and discussed the 
useful  of 
ICT  for teaching in English.My class began with  the topic Computer Assisted Language Learning.The CALL is Computer Assisted Language Learning ,based on the communicative approach to teaching and there are three phases as follows:

1. Behavioristic CALL (focus on drill and practice)
2. Communicative CALL (focus on using form in real situation)
3. Integrative CALL ( multimedia and internet)


 Next, the  teacher concluded the article again. Then, teacher assigned homework to students about current trend and issues in English Language Education in Asia for next week and discuss the details of the topic that we search for information in each group.

   I think that this lesson is very difficult to understand so, I try to read about the topic after the class with my friends again. This lesson made me know about ICT more and more and I felt challenge for developing my  reading skill also.

Course Introduction week 8 (Seminar in English Language)

        Today , the class started with topic about using the internet for teaching for teaching which is computer assisted language learning introduction.And another subtopic was interesting, CALL is one of program designed for many skills of teaching language. It's consists of reading, writing,speaking, vocabulary and pronunciation. This program have many benefits and essential to the teachers because they can use this program to drill or practice skills of students.

           Nowadays,people use the internet widely and the internet includes www.(World Wide Web), hyperlink and CMC (Computer Mediated Communication). CMC is as defined is many human communication that occurs through the use of two or more electronic devices. These are examples of CMC such as chat,internet,mailing and email etc.
When I studied and shared idea information in this period, I have got information about CMC and internet.They are very important and engage to life of human.Most people didn't know about information this so, I think that the people should be aware about advantages and disadvantages and use technology carefully for your security.

Course Introduction week 7(Seminar in English Language)

Last week, my teacher gave a research about “Factor Effecting English Language  Teaching and Learning Higher Education”. This period the teacher assigned students to think and shared their ideas about c with my friends. But me, I could divided  the contents into 3 categories: teacher, students and atmosphere or environment.


                                                      




      First categories is teacher consists of experience teaching and relationship between teacher and students etc.
      Second categories is student such as attitude to study, background knowledge, style of learner etc.
     Last categories is atmosphere included atmosphere in classroom, size of class and management about time.

    When I shared idea with friends made me know that had many factor have an affect on learning of learner so, I thought that teacher should be improve these factors for development learners. Today I’ve found that the main my problem was some topic I couldn’t understand about detail or information so, my friends will comment and share they idea made me know about that more. Moreover, in my opinion I felt very happy with our class because this class help me understand each  the lesson more. Finally, I will adjust and apply this teaching to my students  because this method encourage, motivate and build up a good friendship between learners and learner etc.


                                          

Course Introduction week 6(Seminar in English Language)

    My class started at 8:30 a.m. Before we started the lesson have two friends come back from Philippines and Indonesia shared experience about practice of teaching in their countries. Their experiences have many topics: culture, food, learning of student etc.
Then, students worked in group and discussed altogether.                                         

                                         



The topic is “Classroom Learning context: teacher’s description”. Next, Each group sent the representative for presentation detail the passage.Moreover , the students work in pair and read the passage and made comment on each classroom learning context that which classroom do you like most ?and what are strengths and weakness to each classroom. And some of students (3 people) presented in front of the class. After that the teacher summarized and shared or comments to each types of classroom. Finally , the student discussed the topic
“Factor and  Affecting ELT learning” in a small group and did mind mapping, shared idea to  my friends till time up!
In my opinion, I understood the lesson more because context to learning  in many countries was my strategy for reading  didn’t enough to academic reading. I solved the problem by practice about reading more and more.

Course Introduction week 5(Seminar in English Language)



     For this week, we  studied about "The roles of English Language Education in Asian Context". This research of Bok Myung Chang and the detail of research about history of English Language Education in Asian Countries: Singapore,Hong Kong, China,Malaysia,Taiwan,Japan and Korea.
    

       Next, each group discussed in their groups and sent representative to present idea of members in each groups. For me, difficulty about reading is a research had many contents 
so,I had to read this research advanced and tried to concentrate while the teacher taught the lesson more.But this week, the teacher gave time enough for read and discussed in each groups so I felt very happy and fun about learning.

Course Introduction week 4 (Seminar in English Language)

     
       

        My class started at 8.30 a.m. My teacher began the lesson by introduction ESL and EFL.Then, we presented our topic about the differences between ESL learning and EFL learning in front of the class and shared idea together. After that, teacher summarized the lesson and lectured next topic of today. The topic was 21st century learning pedagogy.

                                              


          This week when I studied many ways class. I already searched information for discussion with my group. I thought that my weakness was vocabularies because I read an article I had to searched for vocabularies from dictionary online on my cell phone so, it’s made me felt  incoherent for reading. I tried to memorize vocabularies as much as I can. This is my way to solve the problem.
My attitude toward is I can explain about differences between ESL learning and EFL learning and bring advantages of each learning adjust  my teaching  if I were a teacher in the future.  



Course Introduction week 3 (Seminar in English Language)



     Today my class start at 8.30 Before I started the lesson. My teacher presented our tasks of each group in front of the class. Then, my friends and I watched the video about World English of
 David Cystal from YouTube (2 times) and I took some notes for finding main idea.




 After that , class made work in group for discussion and recapitulated presented in front of the class. In addition, The teacher summarized and explained the lesson. Lastly, teacher lectured teaching and the end of the class she assigned the task about differences between TEFL context and TESL context that how different? both of this. This week was third week for this class. I found the problem as last week so, I tried to search way for reading article when I already solved the problem it made me understood about reading article more and more but , this time I felt happy more than the past.
The most important thing was understood about world englishes was better than.

Course Introduction week 2 (Seminar in English Language)





Today I have seminar class and start at 8:30 a.m. Before I started the lesson. Teacher made groups from count the number and gave topics as follows:


1.Global English

2.EFL or English as a foreign language

3.ESL or English as a second language

4.EIL or English as a international language

5.Lingual franca՜


After that we presented detail of topics in front of the class. The topics have many in format but it made me knew about it more.
I strongly believed that I could read faster than in the past but reading skill is still not well because I couldn't use fluently reading strategy. This is problem for me so, I have to practiced to read about articles more and more. My attitudes toward to this lesson is I can apply content and knowledge of this lesson for studying other lesson.

Course Introduction week 1 (Seminar in English Language)



  1.What did you learned today?

     Today it's the first day of new semester. Teacher talked with students about what are subjects /course that student learned about English language teaching last semester?
    Then, the teacher gave topics for discussion and there are four subjects as follows;

1.English Teaching Methodology1.

2.English Language Assessment and Evaluation.
3.Learning English through projects.
4.cultures of speakers of English.

   After that, students discussed and shared idea within group of each group.In addition, every group have to explained, told problems and receipts of those subjects.Finally, the teacher taught and assigned tasks for discussion.

2.What did you find easy?
  I think that choose appropriate reading strategy more than the past and it helps me can read increasingly.

3.What did you find difficult?
  In my opinion, I'm not familiar with academic reading such as articles,research and journals etc. so,I think that I don't understand the aim/purpose about them.

4. What did you solve the problem?
  In my mind,I should self study and search for information and try to often practice reading from easy level til advance level.

5.What did you attitudes towards the lesson?
   I strongly believe that  I can read articles, research, journals and newspaper  more than the past when l already study this course.
